Psychologist in San Diego and Teletherapy Throughout California
Dr. Charles R. Freeman provides in-person psychological treatment at his San Diego office and teletherapy for appropriate patients throughout California. San Diego patients may choose either format; patients in Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area and other California communities receive care by secure video.
Dr. Freeman is a California-licensed psychologist with over 35 years of clinical experience. Insomnia and complicated sleep problems are a major specialty, and his broader work includes anxiety, trauma and PTSD, chronic pain and behavioral medicine, CBT, CBT-I, EMDR therapy, nightmares, stress and health-related behavioral concerns.
The right format depends on the patient’s needs, preferences, privacy and clinical circumstances. A free 15-minute consultation offers a practical way to discuss the concern and whether in-person or online treatment may be appropriate.
In-Person Psychology Services in San Diego
Dr. Freeman’s only physical practice location is in San Diego. Patients may meet with him in person for concerns such as persistent insomnia, anxiety, trauma reactions, nightmares, chronic pain and patterns in which sleep, health, behavior and emotional stress overlap.
San Diego patients are not limited to office visits. Teletherapy may also be available when online treatment is clinically appropriate and better fits the patient’s schedule, health or travel needs.
Teletherapy Throughout California
Teletherapy allows patients in California to meet with Dr. Freeman by secure video without traveling to San Diego. It can provide access to specialized treatment for people who live at a distance, have demanding schedules or prefer to attend from a private location.
Online treatment is not automatically the right choice for every person or every concern. Dr. Freeman considers the clinical issue, safety, privacy, technology and the patient’s goals before recommending a format.
Los Angeles Teletherapy
Los Angeles-area patients can work with Dr. Freeman by teletherapy for persistent or complicated insomnia, including sleep difficulty that may overlap with anxiety, trauma, nightmares, chronic pain, health concerns or conditioned arousal.
Treatment is provided online; Dr. Freeman does not maintain a Los Angeles office.
San Francisco & Bay Area Teletherapy
Patients in San Francisco, Marin, the Peninsula and other Bay Area communities can access Dr. Freeman’s specialized behavioral sleep treatment and broader behavioral-medicine experience by teletherapy, without traveling to San Diego.
Treatment is provided online; Dr. Freeman does not maintain a San Francisco or Bay Area office.
Problems Dr. Freeman Treats
Dr. Freeman’s work is individualized rather than limited to one protocol. Depending on the patient’s needs, treatment may address:
- Insomnia and sleep problems, including difficulty falling asleep, repeated waking, early waking and sleep-related anxiety
- Anxiety, stress and persistent worry
- Trauma, PTSD, hypervigilance and nightmares
- Chronic pain and the behavioral and emotional patterns that can affect daily functioning
- CBT, CBT-I and EMDR therapy when clinically appropriate
- Health-related behavioral concerns and coordination with medical care when authorized Dr. Freeman does not prescribe or manage medication. Medication decisions remain with the prescribing clinician.
Choosing In-Person or Online Treatment
In-person treatment may appeal to patients who value being in the same room with their psychologist or who have a concern better addressed at the office. Teletherapy may reduce travel, make specialized care easier to access and fit more readily into work or family schedules.
Neither format is universally better. Privacy, clinical needs, comfort with technology and the ability to participate without interruption all matter. Dr. Freeman discusses those factors during the consultation and initial assessment.
Fees and Insurance
The same fee schedule applies to in-person care in San Diego and teletherapy anywhere in California. There are no Los Angeles, Bay Area or teletherapy surcharges.
